INFORMATION - NASDAQ CLEARING AND BREXIT
At Nasdaq, we have been monitoring the Brexit processes closely and working to prepare for a possible Brexit without a withdrawal agreement. Our goal is to ensure that our markets and members continue to run smoothly, mitigating any disturbances in the business due to Brexit.
Nasdaq Clearing is part of the global Nasdaq Brexit project, and our common activities are focused on ensuring uninterrupted access to our clearing services, whether the member firm stays in the UK or moves its clearing business to an EU27 location.
For clearing members staying in the UK, Nasdaq Clearing has obtained a “temporary recognition” with the Bank of England, which means that we can continue to provide clearing services to UK firms for a period of up to 3 years, during which time we aim to obtain permanent recognition. Please note that these contingency measures are only required in a scenario where the UK leaves the EU without a withdrawal agreement.
For clearing members relocating
For clearing members relocating all or parts of their clearing business to an EU27 location, we are assisting with membership applications and transfers of positions to these new entities.
For clearing members with questions around the Brexit project, please contact your Key Account Manager.
