    Nasdaq Copenhagen Through the Years

    • 1648 – King Christian IV builds the original exchange building, used for trading commodities and goods.
    • 1808 – Equity markets are established in Denmark, marking the formal start of securities trading.
    • 1840 – Industrialization boosts market activity; public share trading emerges: “I buy” / “I sell.”
    • 1919 – Introduction of the Stock Exchange Act (Fondbørslov), establishing a legal framework for securities trading.
    • 1974 – Exchange relocates; the modern trading floor era begins.
    • 1987 – Electronic trading is introduced, transitioning from floor trading to digital systems.
    • 1996 – Copenhagen Stock Exchange becomes a listed company, marking its own entry into the public market.
    • 1998 – Joins Nordic collaboration; regional integration begins.
    • 2005 – Merges with OMX to strengthen Nordic market infrastructure.
    • 2006 – Full harmonization of trading standards with unified rules across Nordic exchanges.
