Transcript:
If you have a great idea, if you have a product that can really make a difference in patients’ lives, continue to pursue it. There's always roadblocks, but eventually you will get there.
Esperion Therapeutics was a company that was actually founded in 2008, but in 2020 we actually launched two products, NEXLIZET and NEXLETOL. And these are products that are for essentially treating high LDL cholesterol. Last year alone, our total revenue grew by over 50%. Our prescriptions year over year, comparing last year to the year before, grew by almost 44%. So we've seen tremendous growth in our products, and that was based on a very narrow label. The new label that we've received from the FDA will allow us to expand the applicable patient population to almost 70 million patients.
Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer. And in the next five years, it's really up to us and even other pharmaceutical companies, but really us, to really make a dent in that fact that cardiovascular disease should not be the number one killer in the United States. And we really want to help educate patients. They should be out there getting their lipid panels, getting their LDL, and continuing to promote the fact that there's products out there like NEXLIZET and NEXLETOL that can help them with their condition. So Nasdaq for us represents the opportunity to really get the name of Esperion Therapeutics out to the public.
