In early trading on Tuesday, shares of Freeport-McMoran Copper & Gold topped the list of the day's best performing components of the S&P 500 index, trading up 5.7%. Year to date, Freeport-McMoran Copper & Gold registers a 8.3% gain.
And the worst performing S&P 500 component thus far on the day is Home Depot, trading down 3.2%. Home Depot is lower by about 10.9% looking at the year to date performance.
Two other components making moves today are Advanced Micro Devices, trading down 2.8%, and Medtronic, trading up 5.1% on the day.
