AOS’s 5×5 DrMOS chips experiencing ‘severe’ thermal issues, says analyst Kuo

TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in a Medium post that the DrMOS chips currently being tested for the GB300/B300 system are AOS’s (AOSL) 5×5 and MPS’s 5×6 and that his supply chain survey indicates that AOS’s chips were experiencing “severe” thermal issues. Kuo said Nvidia (NVDA) prioritized testing AOS’s 5×5 DrMOS to strengthen its bargaining power against MPS to lower costs, and beause AOS has more excellent expertise in the design and production of 5×5 DrMOS, but if the issue remains unresolved, Nvidia may take proactive measures to avoid delays in GB300/B300 mass production, including engaging alternative 5×5 DrMOS suppliers, such as requesting test samples from MPS, and accelerating testing of MPS’s 5×6 DrMOS.
