The SPDR S&P Global Natural Resources ETF ( GNR ) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Thursday, with over 1.1 million shares traded versus three month average volume of about 137,000. Shares of GNR were up about 1% on the day.
Components of that ETF with the highest volume on Thursday were Freeport McMoran ( FCX ), trading up about 0.9% with over 31.3 million shares changing hands so far this session, and Vale ( VALE ), up about 1.4% on volume of over 17.1 million shares. Petroleo Brasileiro ( PBR ) is the component faring the best Thursday, higher by about 4% on the day, while Monsanto ( MON ) is lagging other components of the SPDR S&P Global Natural Resources ETF, trading lower by about 2%.
