Thursday Sector Leaders: Technology & Communications, Industrial

The best performing sector as of midday Thursday is the Technology & Communications sector, up 2.0%. Within that group, Super Micro Computer Inc (Symbol: SMCI) and Arista Networks Inc (Symbol: ANET) are two large stocks leading the way, showing a gain of 15.2% and 5.8%, respectively. Among technology ETFs, one ETF following the sector is the Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (Symbol: XLK), which is up 1.4% on the day, and up 22.38% year-to-date. Super Micro Computer Inc, meanwhile, is up 4.57% year-to-date, and Arista Networks Inc is up 71.41% year-to-date. Combined, SMCI and ANET make up approximately 1.2% of the underlying holdings of XLK.

The next best performing sector is the Industrial sector, up 1.6%. Among large Industrial stocks, Deere & Co. (Symbol: DE) and Intuit Inc (Symbol: INTU) are the most notable, showing a gain of 8.9% and 4.3%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Industrial stocks is the Industrial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLI), which is up 1.4% in midday trading, and up 24.72% on a year-to-date basis. Deere & Co., meanwhile, is up 11.40% year-to-date, and Intuit Inc is up 9.12% year-to-date. DE makes up approximately 2.5% of the underlying holdings of XLI.
