Should the UK Restrict Immigration?

With UK Prime Minister Theresa May indicating that she will not invoke Article 50 before the end of the year, the issue of immigration, which was a key factor in the Brexit outcome is likely to remain a hotbed as the UK is still subject to EU rules. In this regard, we have followed up on our highly successful EU referendum tracking poll, which was the only one to call the Brexit outcome from tis onset, with one asking whether the UK should restrict immigration while it waits for Article 50 to be invoked and negotiations to begin.

While our poll results are still preliminary they show a strong sentiment for restricting immigration into the UK even if it violates EU rules. As with all of our polls, we include an optional comments section, which shows true feelings that go beyond just the numbers. As illustrated below:

The majority vote was to leave the EU this was inclusive of restrictions on immigration. This should implemented immediately

Yes definitely start to cut down immigration it doesn't matter who it upsets. We voted to leave EU. to get this country back on its feet, we are not answerable to anyone and this was one of the main issues why we voted out.

We have to stop all immigration right now until Article 50 is invoked, or we will be over-run with immigrants wanting to get in as quickly as possible before the deadline.

Possible that there will be a larger influx of immigration before Article 50 is invoked.

No but it should be made clear anyone who arrives after article 50 is invoked will not have an automatic right to stay and may be asked to leave if they don’t meet certain criteria…

And our borders should have been slammed shut on 24 June with no one allowed in without strict security checks. This should have been a condition of Brexit and made clear from the beginning as it was a major reason for voting OUT.

Stay tuned as we will be reporting results.
