Hartford Financial (HIG): About 3,400 Weekly 30 puts expiring on Dec. 24 were bought for $0.05 as investors braced for downside in the share price. HIG rose 0.07 percent to $45.17.
Staples (SPLS): About 4,500 January 11 calls were bought for $0.15 to $0.25 but volume was below open interest at the strike. SPLS rose 1.32 percent to $9.99.
SPDR Barclays High Yield Bond Fund (JNK): A block of 5,000 January 34 calls were bought for $0.75 as investor looked for junk bonds to rally. JNK fell 0.09 percent to $34.49.
