When I was asked to feature as a contributor here on Nasdaq I was initially puzzled; my passion and forte lie in small business, what could the benefit be of me featuring here? I did not ponder for too long, as I soon realised that there are many parallels to be drawn between the big corporations on the Nasdaq, and smaller businesses across the globe.
After being an entrepreneur and thriving on the business life, I have seen many businesses come and go, both big and small. In the business world there really are symmetries between the two and lessons to be learned - perhaps on both sides.
There are many operations within big businesses which, when taken in context, can help small businesses. I see this column as a perfect and rare opportunity to draw these parallels and demonstrate the way in which the experiences of big companies can help smaller companies, without them having to spend thousands of dollars and make mistakes along the way.
Every big business was once a small business, and each and every one has taken steps along the road of business growth. Why cut down trees to create a new path when you can travel the road that is well trodden? Let the big businesses show you how to travel that path, and I hope to be your guide.
I am honored to have been chosen to contribute here on Nasdaq.com, and hope that I can help some small businesses out there to grow and develop using the experiences of bigger corporations.
Remember Apple Inc. (AAPL) once started in a garage, and if you have a garage and passion for business then this is for you!
Everything I say on this column is my personal opinion and interpretation of events; as we are all different, if your interpretation or opinions are different to mine I would love to hear your point of view. Let’s get a conversation going!
