In afternoon trading on Friday, Technology & Communications stocks are the best performing sector, higher by 1.1%. Within that group, Activision Blizzard, Inc. (Symbol: ATVI) and Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co (Symbol: HPE) are two of the day's stand-outs, showing a gain of 4.4% and 4.0%, respectively. Among technology ETFs , one ETF following the sector is the Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (Symbol: XLK), which is up 1.6% on the day, and up 10.16% year-to-date. Activision Blizzard, Inc., meanwhile, is up 22.27% year-to-date, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co is up 8.02% year-to-date. HPE makes up approximately 0.5% of the underlying holdings of XLK.
The next best performing sector is the Services sector, up 0.7%. Among large Services stocks, Netflix Inc (Symbol: NFLX) and Macy's Inc (Symbol: M) are the most notable, showing a gain of 4.5% and 3.0%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Services stocks is the iShares U.S. Consumer Services ETF ( IYC ), which is up 1.4% in midday trading, and up 10.30% on a year-to-date basis. Netflix Inc, meanwhile, is up 74.71% year-to-date, and Macy's Inc is up 35.90% year-to-date. Combined, NFLX and M make up approximately 4.6% of the underlying holdings of IYC.
