Broadcom will supply HEVC-enabled (High Efficiency Video Coding) BCM7444 and BCM7252 SoCs to BrightSign to facilitate the highest 4K video quality in digital signage media players using advanced compression and decoding capabilities.
Ultra HD (4K) displays feature 4x greater image definition than existing displays, requiring content to be transmitted at 60 frames-per-second. Broadcom'c SoCs reduce required bandwidth by 50%, thereby enabling the content to be transmitted at half the time taken by other available variants. Ultra HD offers richer colors and high contrast ratios, leading to very high quality images. BrightSign will be utilizing Broadcom's decoders for a wide variety of commercial signage in retail stores, stadiums and other large-screen public locations.
