The technology-focused ETRACS ISE SSD ETN (NYSEArca:SSDD) was the best performing fund Thursday, July 19, tagging on gains of 6.88 percent as solid IBM earnings helped support tech stocks and push the broad stock market higher.
The Dow Jones industrial average ended higher for the third day in a row, adding another 34.66 points Thursday to close 0.3 percent higher at 12,943.26. IBM shares rose 3.8 percent on the day.
Another tech-heavy portfolio, the equal-weighted Direxion NASDAQ-100 Equal Weighted ETF (NYSEArca:QQQE), was also among the day's top performer rising 3.12 percent. Both QQQE and SSDD are relatively small funds, and their price movements came amid light trading volume.
On the flip side, a pair of futures-based Teucrium funds gave back some of their recent gains, as storms crossing much of the U.S. Midwest and East in the past couple of days helped alleviate some of the concern over crop conditions.
The Teucrium Agricultural Fund (NYSEArca:TAGS) shed 10.87 percent on Thursday, while the Teucrium Corn Fund (NYSEArca:CORN) dropped 2.5 percent on the day.
