“The Best Partnerships Are Forged Through Challenges”

When Joe Fleury, one of Orrstown Bank’s Relationship Managers in the Maryland Region, saw a favorite local coffee shop struggling to stay afloat during the Covid-19 pandemic, he knew he had to do something. Joe didn’t wait for them to ask for help – he made sure the help came to them first. Joe personally made a call late on a Saturday night to the owners of the coffee shop, Baltimore Coffee & Tea, offering support through the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).

The owners agreed that it would be the lifeline they needed to avoid closing their doors, and they quickly filled out the documentation. The Orrstown Bank team then worked around the clock to ensure their application was processed, approved, and funded without delay. The owners shared that Orrstown Bank’s efforts “saved their business,” allowing them to keep their employees on payroll and save over 100 jobs across 6 different locations.

For Joe, securing the loan for Baltimore Coffee & Tea was about more than just a number on a spreadsheet. Baltimore Coffee & Tea has had ties to the Baltimore community since 1992. They pride themselves on having incredibly high standards in product quality, just as they have for the past 3 decades. Joe knew that if Baltimore Coffee & Tea closed, the local community would lose an important hub where friends, families, and professionals gather on a daily basis.

After their quick help when it was needed most, Orrstown Bank has since become a trusted resource for Baltimore Coffee & Tea. Orrstown Bank’s relationship with Baltimore Coffee & Tea now spans across all their banking needs, including a line of credit, deposit services, treasury management, and credit card solutions.

Orrstown Bank recently embarked on a mutually beneficial partnership with Solar Renewable Energy (SRE) to expand access to clean solar energy across the Northeast. SRE has financed, developed and installed over 250 solar energy systems in total, representing over 50 megawatts total output annually of clean energy. SRE helped Orrstown Bank develop expertise in the solar lending space, and in return, Orrstown Bank has helped fund numerous solar projects, supporting the local environment as well as local economy by creating jobs.

“Orrstown Bank’s internal team is very professional, responsive, and always looking out for what’s best for their clients,” said Seth R. Berry, Solar Renewable Energy’s Chief Operating Officer. When asked relationships with other banks, he mentioned they don’t even entertain calls from other banks.

Orrstown Bank also partners with MT Weatherization to increase access to energy efficiency solutions in homes, reducing costs and making winters a bit easier for customers across the Northeast. Specializing in energy-saving services across the Mid-Atlantic region, MT Weatherization has built a strong reputation since its founding in 2007, performing in excess of 30,000 energy audits and saving clients almost 80 million kWh in energy—equivalent to around 21.5% annual savings. When MT Weatherization needed a financial partner to support their growth, Orrstown Bank stepped in to provide loan and deposit solutions, helping the company maintain and expand its operations.
