On Tuesday, Chinese computer maker Asus and Google GOOG have officially rolled out their Chromebit computer stick after first announcing the device earlier this spring. Similar to Intel Corp's INTC Compute Stick, the Chromebit is, essentially, a small stick that you plug into the back of your television via an HDMI port. And, once plugged in, users will see the Chrome operating system (OS) interface displayed on the TV screen.

Asus and Google's Chromebit is priced on the lower end of computer sticks at $85. In comparison, Intel's Compute Stick sells for $115-this version utilizes the older Windows 8.1 OS-and up to $145 with the Windows 10 OS. Fellow computer maker Lenovo LNVGY sells its Ideacentre Stick for $100 with Windows 10.

The $85 price mark for Asus and Google's Chromebit makes the device quite the steal, considering all that is packed into the tiny 2.6 ounce stick: 16GB of onboard storage, 2GB RAM, a quad-core Rockchip RK3288-C processor, and an integrated Rockchip Mali T764 graphics chip. The Chromebit features one USB port and has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities.

While Asus and Google's Chromebit will be available to everyday consumers, it appears, like other computer sticks, to be most useful for schools and businesses that would benefit from a single computer on a large screen, or those who are frequently involved in team or group projects.
