The rifle emoji is no longer available for Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL ) or Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT ) device owners.
There are 72 emojis carried by these companies, but the rifle is no longer in its selection due to the controversial nature of its appearance.
With the U.S. and the rest of the world still recovering from recent gun-related attacks, the Unicode Consortium - responsible for emojis - decided to get rid of the rifle.
Additionally, the pentathlon emoji has been removed as it features a man with a firing gun.
AAPL stock is down 0.2% and MSFT stock is down 0.1% Monday.
