A leading provider of diversified machinery, ABB Ltd.ABB , recently announced that it has provided its KNX building automation solutions for the new Microsoft Corporation MSFT office situated in Copenhagen, Denmark. The building automation solutions provided by ABB include daylight harvesting, energy efficiency augmentation and sophisticated control functions for increased comfort.
These features will convert Microsoft's new building into a smart building. The KNX building control system from ABB, which has been used in several thousand installations around the world, utilizes the Internet of Things Services and People (IoTSP) to adjust control functions in sequence with the natural rhythm of the day
The smart design of the building, which comprises a glass outlook and glass ceiling, facilitates the daylight harvesting system. Sensors measure the amount of sunlight as well as its presence in the building to allow the systems regulate the lighting and shutter control. Using ABB's advanced sensor technology, Microsoft can save up to 20-60% of lighting energy consumption.
This enhanced technology sets it apart from its peers. Keeping pace with growing customer demand to save energy, the company can expect to see a boost in its revenues.
ABB is streamlining its business in order to improve its services and boost organic growth while minimizing risks and augmenting competitiveness. Per its 'Next Level Strategy' for the period 2015-2020, the company is focused on three major areas, namely, profitable growth, relentless execution and business-led collaboration - which are expected to lay the foundation for future growth. Over the period 2015-2020, ABB looks to boost operational earnings per share by 10-15% CAGR and deliver attractive returns on investments.
