Walt Smith is Senior Vice President and a member of the Market Platforms Strategy team, focusing on growing inorganically through the execution of acquisitions, venture investments and new business initiatives. Walt brings more than 25 years of industry experience.

Prior to this role, Walt led Strategy and Business Development for North American Markets. Previously, he led the Trade Management Services business after two years as Head of U.S. Equities.

He joined Nasdaq as part of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange acquisition, where he was a member of the U.S. Options management team, focused on pricing, strategy, listed products and revenue management. Previously at PHLX, he led teams in regulation, program management, pricing, listings, and index operations. Walt began his career at the Vanguard Group.

Walt holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics and an MBA, with concentrations in finance and strategy, from Pennsylvania State University.
