Spectral AI Files NTAP Application With CMS For DeepView System; Stock Up

(RTTNews) - Spectral AI, Inc. (MDAI), a medical diagnostics company, announced that it has submitted a New Technology Add-On Payment (NTAP) application to the Centres for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for its DeepView System under the alternative pathway.

Spectral AI's DeepView System is a non-invasive, predictive medical device that combines multispectral imaging with a proprietary AI algorithm to assess the healing potential of areas within burn wounds.

The DeepView System provides physicians with a data-driven assessment of whether areas within a burn wound are unlikely to heal within 21 days and may require further medical intervention.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted it De Novo Classification in May 2026.

The NTAP program provides additional inpatient reimbursement for eligible new technologies and medical services that meet CMS requirements, to help hospitals cover some of the additional costs associated with their use.

Under the NTAP program, qualifying cases may receive additional Medicare reimbursement, subject to CMS requirements and payment limits.

The additional payment is capped at about 65% of the estimated cost of the new technology. Spectral AI expects CMS to make a final determination on its DeepView application in August 2027. If approved, NTAP reimbursement would generally begin in October 2027 and remain available for approximately three years.

"We will continue to evaluate other payment and reimbursement pathways that support our commercialisation objectives," said Vincent Capone, Chief Executive Officer. MDAI has traded between $1.18 and $2.97 over the last year. The stock closed Monday's trading at $1.69.

MDAI is currently up 2.66% at $1.73.
