Evotec, Plectonic Enter Research Collaboration For T-Cell-Engaging Solid Tumour Therapies

(RTTNews) - Evotec SE (EVO), a life sciences company, and Plectonic Biotech announced a research collaboration to explore a novel immunotherapy approach for solid tumours. The collaboration aims to address the key challenges that have limited the successful application of traditional T-cell engager therapies in solid tumours by combining Plectonic's programmable LOGIBODY technology with Evotec's proprietary BiTco costimulatory CD2 bispecific platform.

Plectonic's LOGIBODY DNA-protein therapeutics are designed to recognise tumours through a specific combination of tumour-associated antigens before engaging T cells and to enhance the precision of T-cell activation based on a multispecific antigen signature.

The companies will evaluate whether combining precise tumour recognition with enhanced T-cell activation can improve the precision and potency of T-cell-engaging therapies in solid tumours.

Under the terms of the agreement, the partnership will generate preclinical proof-of-concept data to evaluate the potential of this new generation of T-cell-engaging approaches.

"Together, we look forward to investigating this next-generation modality and exploring new ways to address long-standing challenges in tumour selectivity and safety that have limited the effectiveness of T-cell engagers in solid tumour indications," said Klaus Wagenbauer, CEO and Founder of Plectonic Biotech.

EVO has traded between $1.80 and $4.27 over the last year. The stock closed Tuesday's trade at $1.80, down 4.26%.

In the after-hours market, EVO was up 0.56% at $1.81.
