BridgeBio Teams With Community Groups To Raise ATTR-CM Awareness

(RTTNews) - BridgeBio Pharma, Inc. (BBIO), a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on genetic diseases, announced a nationwide initiative with community partners to raise awareness of transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy, also called ATTR cardiac amyloidosis (ATTR-CM).

BridgeBio develops therapies for genetic diseases and cancers with clear genetic drivers, with programs spanning cardiovascular, neurological, endocrine and musculoskeletal conditions, among others.

ATTR-CM is an underrecognized cause of heart failure in which abnormal TTR protein builds up in the heart, making the heart muscle thicker and stiffer and reducing its ability to pump blood effectively.

BridgeBio received U.S. FDA approval for Attruby (acoramidis) on November 22, 2024, for the treatment of adults with transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM).

BridgeBio is also evaluating acoramidis in the ACT-EARLY study, a registrational prevention trial involving asymptomatic individuals who carry a pathogenic TTR variant. The study is assessing whether acoramidis can delay or prevent the development of hereditary ATTR disease, including cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) or polyneuropathy (ATTR-PN).

The initiative will launch with a YouTube premiere on October 6, followed by community discussions and educational programs leading up to World Amyloidosis Day on October 26.

The premiere features a discussion on Black men's heart health and ATTR-CM, moderated by broadcaster Sway Calloway. The panel includes ATTR-CM advocate Howard "H" White, physician Albert J. Hicks III, and Hip Hop Public Health representatives Doug E. Fresh and Olajide Williams.

Hip Hop Public Health (HHPH) is a nonprofit that combines music, culture and science to provide accessible health education.

The nationwide initiative is supported by several community organisations, which will host or support viewings and educational programs at 40 locations across the U.S., including Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Oakland and Washington, D.C.

BBIO has traded between $52.75 and $93.42 over the last year. The stock closed Monday's trade at $66.14, down 1.65%.

In the overnight market, BBIO is up 0.35% at $66.37.
