Aligos Therapeutics To Present HBV, HDV Programs At AASLD 2026

(RTTNews) - Aligos Therapeutics, Inc. (ALGS), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, announced that five abstracts have been accepted for presentation at the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) The Liver Meeting 2026, being held November 5 - 9, 2026.

Aligos Therapeutics focuses on therapies to treat liver and viral diseases. According to the company, the abstracts cover chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection and hepatitis delta virus (HDV), including clinical and preclinical findings.

Pevifoscorvir sodium, a potential small-molecule CAM-E for chronic hepatitis B (HBV), will be featured in presentations on November 8, 2026.

One abstract will examine the drug's immune-modulatory effects in HBeAg-positive patients with chronic HBV and has been selected as a Poster of Distinction. The second will present long-term treatment data showing reductions in HBsAg levels to below 3,000 IU/mL in HBeAg-positive patients.

A third abstract will also feature pevifoscorvir sodium and present in vitro data comparing its suppression of HBV double-stranded linear DNA with nucleos(t)ide analogues on November 8.

Meanwhile, ALG-170675, a potential antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) for chronic HBV, will be highlighted with preclinical data evaluating its efficacy in an AAV-HBV mouse model, as well as pharmacokinetics and safety in mice and monkeys.

Another preclinical presentation will feature ALG-215007, an antisense oligonucleotide that demonstrated potent inhibition of hepatitis delta virus (HDV) replication.

Near Term Milestones

In August, the company said enrollment was complete in the Phase 2 B-SUPREME study evaluating ALG-000184, with 131 participants enrolled in the HBeAg-positive cohort (Part 1a) and 114 in the HBeAg-negative cohort (Part 2a).

Topline data from both cohorts are expected in late third quarter 2027.

Cash and Stock Performance

As of June 30, 2026, cash, cash equivalents, and investments totalled $30.4 million, excluding a $25 million upfront payment received in July. The company expects its financial resources to fund planned operations into the fourth quarter of 2026.
