Kjerstin Braathen

Kjerstin Braathen is CEO of DNB ASA and has more than 20 years experience from various parts of the DNB Group. 

Previously she held the role of CFO in DNB, being responsible for the DNB Group’s financial management, financial reporting, treasury, M&A, legal and investor relations functions. Before taking on the role as CFO, Mrs. Braathen was Group Executive Vice President of Corporate Banking in DNB, managing a portfolio of more than 200.000 small- and medium-sized corporate customers.


Mrs. Braathen is also Chair of the Board in Vipps, the Nordics’ leading ID and payment infrastructure provider. In addition to her operative roles in DNB’s Group Management, Mrs. Braathen has served on several company boards – both as Chair and as a Director. She is currently a member of the Corporate Assembly of Equinor, and a Board Director of Finance Norway. She has been Chair of the Board in DNB Livsforsikring, among the largest capital owners in Norway. Furthermore, she has also held a position on the Board of Directors in Nordlandsbanken ASA. 


Mrs. Braathen started her tenure in DNB working with large corporate clients within Shipping, Offshore and Logistics. She held various positions, amongst other Head of LNG Shipping, Head of International Units and Head of the Oslo Section. In these roles, Mrs. Braathen was responsible for both credit and advisory for several of the bank’s largest corporate customers both in Norway and internationally.

Before joining DNB in 1999, Mrs. Braathen held various positions in Norsk Hydro where she started her career as a trainee within Hydro Agri International in 1995.

Mrs. Braathen holds a Master in Management and Finance from SKEMA Business School in Nice - Sophia Antipolis.
