Wheat Falling Back to Start Friday Trade

Wheat is showing losses of 3 to 8 cents on Friday morning. The wheat complex posted mixed action across the three exchanges on Thursday. Chicago SRW contracts were fractionally to 2 ½ cents higher on the day. KC HRW futures closed the day with fractionally mixed trade in the nearbys and weaker in the deferreds. Open interest was up 6,090 contracts on Thursday. MPLS spring wheat was up 6 3/4 to 9 cents on the day. September options expire today.

The weekly USDA Export Sales report showed a total of 393,655 MT of 2026/27 wheat sales in the week ending on August 13. That was the third highest for the marketing year but still 24.26% below the same week last year. The top buyer was Mexico at 105,000 MT, with 97,200 MT sold to Taiwan.

Monthly International Grains Council data showed production down 4 MMT to 817 MMT, with use slipping down 2 MMT to 826 MMT. Stocks for 2026/27 were trimmed by 4 MMT to 275 MMT.

Sep 26 CBOT Wheat  closed at $6.82 3/4, up 2 1/2 cents, currently down 3 3/4 cents

Dec 26 CBOT Wheat  closed at $7.00, up 2 1/2 cents, currently down 4 cents

Sep 26 KCBT Wheat  closed at $7.62 1/4, up 1/4 cent, currently down 8 1/4 cents

Dec 26 KCBT Wheat  closed at $7.76 1/2, down 1/4 cent, currently down 7 1/2 cents

Sep 26 MIAX Wheat  closed at $7.01 3/4, up 6 3/4 cents, currently down 6 3/4 cents

Dec 26 MIAX Wheat  closed at $7.28 3/4, up 7 1/2 cents, currently down 5 3/4 cents
