The First Trust NYSE Arca Biotechnology Index Fund ETF (FBT) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Thursday, with over 66,000 shares traded versus three month average volume of about 32,000. Shares of FBT were up about 0.8% on the day.
Components of that ETF with the highest volume on Thursday were Alnylam Pharmaceuticals (ALNY), trading down about 8.9% with over 2.8 million shares changing hands so far this session, and Moderna (MRNA), up about 4.9% on volume of over 2.5 million shares. Alkermes (ALKS) is the component faring the best Thursday, higher by about 10.5% on the day.
