Swiss Market Ends Moderately Higher On Late Buying

(RTTNews) - Despite languishing in negative territory till the penultimate hour, the Switzerland stock market closed on a firm note on Friday thanks to brisk buying at several counters.

Worries about Middle East tensions and elevated oil prices limited market's upside.

The benchmark SMI, which dropped to 14,279.59 at noon, ended up by 88.82 points or 0.62% at 14,456.98.

Kuehne + Nagel moved up nearly 3%. Richemont, Geberit, Galderma Group, Schindler Ps, Lonza Group, Roche and Sika gained 1%-1.55%.

Lindt & Spruengli climbed nearly 1%. Holcim, Novartis, ABB, Swiss Re and Helvetia Baloise Holding gained 0.6%-0.9%.

Straumann Holding shed 3.33%. Swisscom and Alcon lost 0.94% and 0.81%, respectively. UBS Group, Julius Baer and Swiss Life Holding ended modestly lower.
