In early trading on Friday, shares of Newmont topped the list of the day's best performing components of the S&P 500 index, trading up 6.9%. Year to date, Newmont registers a 46.3% gain.
And the worst performing S&P 500 component thus far on the day is Texas Instruments, trading down 10.4%. Texas Instruments is lower by about 25.2% looking at the year to date performance.
Two other components making moves today are Intel, trading down 7.8%, and Advanced Micro Devices, trading up 5.5% on the day.
