In early trading on Tuesday, shares of Vertex Pharmaceuticals, topped the list of the day's best performing components of the S&P 500 index, trading up 7.8%. Year to date, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, registers a 9.5% gain.
And the worst performing S&P 500 component thus far on the day is Centene, trading down 7.7%. Centene is lower by about 2.8% looking at the year to date performance.
Two other components making moves today are West Pharmaceutical Services, trading down 7.7%, and Western Digital, trading up 5.6% on the day.
