Soybeans Slipping Back as Ratings Remain Steady

Soybeans are trading with contracts 4 to 5 cents lower. Futures posted Monday gains of 5 to 9 ¾ cents at the close. Fresh buying was noted, with open interest up 12,998 contracts. The cmdtyView national average Cash Bean price was up 7 3/4 cents at $12.44 1/4. Soymeal futures were up 40 cents to $3.40, with Soy Oil 35 to 56 points higher across the board. There no deliveries issued against September soybeans on the last trade day, with 6 for soybean meal and 10 deliveries against September bean oil.

Monday’s Crop Progress report from NASS showed 44% of the US soybean crop dropping leaves as of Sunday. Harvest was listed at 6% complete, ahead of the 3% average pace. Condition ratings were steady at 58% gd/ex, with the Brugler500 index unchanged at 353.

USDA’s FGIS tallied soybean export shipments at 672,75 MT (24.72 mbu) during the week ending on September 10. That was 44.8% above the week prior and 18.2% lower than the same week last year. China was the top destination of 328,245 MT, with 74,200 MT headed to Indonesia and 65,070 MT to Japan. Marketing year shipments are 914,826 MT (33.61 mbu) for the first week and a half of the MY and 15.8% below the same time last year.

NOPA data will be released today, with traders looking for 211.55 million bushels of soybeans crushed among members during the month. Soybean oil stocks are estimated at 1.257 billion lbs.

On Monday, CHS announced a new 80 mbu/year crush facility in Evansville, WI, with a targeted completion date of the fall of 2028.

Brazil’s soybean crop was pegged at 180.4 MMT in the latest CONAB estimate this morning, down just 0.06 MMT from last month.

Mar 27 Soybeans  closed at $13.28, up 9 1/4 cents, currently down 4 cents
