Scancell FY26 Loss Widens; ISCIB1+ Phase 2 SCOPE Data Due In 2027

(RTTNews) - On Friday, Scancell Holdings plc (SCLP), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, reported preliminary unaudited financial results for the year ended April 30, 2026.

Company Profile

Scancell develops cancer immunotherapies through its ImmunoBody and Moditope platforms, alongside antibody discovery programs through GlyMab Therapeutics.

Financial Highlights

Loss before tax widened to £20.23 million from £15.30 million recorded in 2025. The increase reflected the absence of licensing revenue, higher administrative and financing expenses, and the lack of a £1.8 million gain on the modification of convertible loan notes. However, lower research and development (R&D) expenses partly offset these factors.

Net loss for the year increased to £17.90 million, or 1.73 pence per share, compared with £12.27 million, or 1.26 pence per share, in the prior year.

Revenue fell to zero from £4.71 million in FY25. The prior-year revenue arose from a collaboration with Genmab, which exercised an option to obtain an exclusive license to develop and commercialize one of Scancell's antibodies.

Cash and cash equivalents stood at £5.32 million as of April 30, 2026.

Following the reporting period, Scancell raised £15.7 million through share offerings and secured a loan facility of up to $25 million from funds managed by BlackRock. However, the company said additional financing linked to its proposed merger with Neuphoria would be needed to meet its longer-term cash requirements.

Clinical Update

iSCIB1+

Scancell expects to initiate the Phase 3 trial of iSCIB1+ in advanced melanoma in the fourth quarter of 2026, following FDA authorization and Fast Track designation, as well as UK regulatory clearance.

The study is planned to enroll approximately 550 patients with unresectable Stage 3B or 4 melanoma, comparing iSCIB1+ combined with ipilimumab and nivolumab against placebo combined with the same immunotherapy regimen.

Further progression-free survival (PFS) data from the Phase 2 SCOPE trial of iSCIB1+ in patients with advanced melanoma are expected in the first half of 2027.

Other pipeline

The company's Phase 2 ModiFY trial evaluating Modi-1 with checkpoint inhibitors in head and neck cancer and renal cell carcinoma is fully recruited.

Early data in head and neck cancer showed partial responses in three of the first seven patients, with an overall response rate of 43% at Week 25. Further data are expected later in 2026.

Business Update

Separately, Scancell agreed to acquire Neuphoria Therapeutics through an all-share merger announced in July 2026. The combined company plans to retain the Scancell name and apply for a Nasdaq listing under the ticker SCLT. The transaction is supported by a proposed $39.1 million private investment in public equity (PIPE) financing, subject to completion of the merger.

SCLP.L closed on Thursday at GBp 9.40 on the London Stock Exchange.

Currently, Scancell shares are trading down 0.62% at GBp 9.34.
