LB Pharmaceuticals Accelerates LB-102 Schizophrenia Program; Phase 3 Data Expected In 1H27

(RTTNews) - LB Pharmaceuticals (LBRX), a neuromedicines company developing therapies for underserved brain disorders, recently reported its second-quarter 2026 financial results and provided a corporate update, with investors focusing on the accelerated development of LB-102 and expansion into additional neuropsychiatric indications.

Recent Business & Clinical Updates:

LB Pharmaceuticals expects topline data from the pivotal Phase 3 NOVA-2 trial evaluating LB-102 in acute schizophrenia in 1H 2027, ahead of its previous guidance, following faster-than-expected enrollment.

The company plans to schedule a pre-NDA meeting with the FDA in 2H 2027 following the NOVA-2 data readout.

The 52-week open-label NOVA-3 trial is also enrolling patients to evaluate the long-term safety and tolerability of LB-102 in schizophrenia.

The company is advancing the Phase 2 ILLUMINATE-1 trial of LB-102 in bipolar I depression, with topline data expected in Q1 2028.

LB Pharmaceuticals expects to initiate a Phase 2 trial of LB-102 in adjunctive major depressive disorder (MDD) in early 2027, with topline data anticipated in 1H 2029.

The company is also exploring LB-102 in additional indications, including negative symptoms of schizophrenia and Alzheimer's disease psychosis and agitation.

Capital Raise:

LB Pharmaceuticals announced a $150 million private placement in July 2026 with participation from new and existing institutional investors.

The proceeds are expected to support expansion of LB-102 into additional indications and general corporate purposes.

Q2 2026 Performance:

LB Pharmaceuticals reported R&D expenses of $44.1 million, compared with $2.4 million in Q2 2025.

The increase was primarily driven by higher spending on the Phase 3 schizophrenia trial, the bipolar depression program, manufacturing and personnel.

General and administrative expenses increased to $9.8 million, compared with $2.4 million in the prior-year quarter, mainly due to higher stock-based compensation, professional fees and personnel costs.

Net loss was $51.6 million, compared with a net loss of $4.9 million in Q2 2025.

The Road Ahead:

The key near-term catalyst is the Phase 3 NOVA-2 topline data readout in 1H 2027, followed by a planned pre-NDA meeting with the FDA in 2H 2027.

LB Pharmaceuticals is also advancing LB-102 in bipolar depression and preparing for its planned Phase 2 program in adjunctive MDD.

The company intends to leverage LB-102's potential across multiple neuropsychiatric disorders, potentially expanding its pipeline beyond schizophrenia.

Cash Position:

LB Pharmaceuticals held $327.8 million in cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities as of June 30, 2026. Including proceeds from the recent $150 million private placement, the company expects to fund planned operations beyond Q2 2029, through multiple clinical milestones.

LBRX is currently trading at $45.62, down 0.50%.
