Johnson & Johnson Presents New Data Validating ICOTYDE In Treatment Of Psoriasis

(RTTNews) - Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), a pharmaceutical company, released on Friday new results from the Phase 3 ICONIC-TOTAL study of ICOTYDE on high-impact plaque psoriasis (PsO) sites. The data was presented at the 2026 Congress of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV).

Plaque psoriasis (PsO) is a chronic immune-mediated skin disease that causes the overproduction of skin cells, leading to inflamed, scaly, itchy patches on the scalp, knees, elbows, or torso. PsO affects about 8 million people in the U.S. and about 125 million worldwide, who live with an altered quality-of-life due to the painful disorder.

ICOTYDE (Icotrokinra) is an oral peptide targeting the interleukin IL-23, which causes the inflammatory response underlying PsO. The drug was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on March 17, 2026, for the treatment of PsO in children and adults.

The findings from the Phase 3 ICONIC-TOTAL study established that ICOTYDE demonstrated sustained skin clearance up to 70% by Week 112. Clearance was also seen around specific body parts:

- 60% of patients with scalp psoriasis achieved a scalp-specific Investigator's Global Assessment (ss-IGA) score of 0

- 89% of patients with genital psoriasis achieved a Physician's Global Assessment of Genitalia (sPGA-G) score of 0

- 63% of patients with psoriasis affecting the hands and/or feet achieved a hand and/or foot Physician's Global Assessment (hf-PGA)f score of 0

- A mean percentage improvement was seen in modified Nail Psoriasis Severity Index (mNAPSI)g to 71% at Week 112

Furthermore, the safety profile of the drug remained consistent with previous observations.

JNJ closed Thursday at $258.66, down 2.30%. In the pre-market, shares are up 0.47% at $260.01.
