Hogs Posting Strength at Midday

Lean hog futures back to higher trade on Wednesday. USDA’s national base hog price was reported at $92.24 in the Wednesday AM report, down $2.13 from the day prior. The CME Lean Hog Index was down 69 cents on August 17 at $94.78.

USDA’s pork carcass cutout value was back down 76 cents in the Wednesday morning report, at $98.36. The loin, butt, and ham primals were reported lower. USDA estimated federally inspected hog slaughter for Tuesday at 476,000 head, with the weekly total at 960,000. That is 22,000 head above the previous week and up just 791 head from the same week last year.

Oct 26 Hogs  are at $81.425, up $0.700,

Dec 26 Hogs  are at $71.350, up $0.425

Feb 27 Hogs are at $74.225, up $0.225,
