Hogs Posting Mixed Trade at Midday

Lean hog futures are mixed, with nearby October up 37 cents and other contracts 40 to 60 cents lower at midday. USDA’s national base hog price was $79.33 in the Wednesday AM report, down 59 cents from the day prior. The CME Lean Hog Index was down another 50 cents on September 21 at $82.92. 

USDA’s pork carcass cutout value was back down 81 cents in the Wednesday morning report, at $87.18. The picnic, ham, and rib were the primals reported lower. Federally inspected hog slaughter for Tuesday was estimated at 491,000 head, with the weekly total at 956,000 head. That was 14,000 head below last week on a revision to Monday, and 6,606 head shy of the same week last year.

Oct 26 Hogs  are at $79.650, up $0.375,

Dec 26 Hogs  are at $70.425, down $0.575

Feb 27 Hogs are at $72.125, down $0.425,
