Hogs Get a Bounce to Start the Week

Lean hog futures were up a nickel to $1.25 at the close. USDA’s national base hog price was $80.35 in the Monday PM report, down $1.41 from the day prior. The CME Lean Hog Index was down another $1 on September 14 at $84.02.

USDA’s pork carcass cutout value was back up $1.93 in the Monday afternoon report, at $88.91. The picnic was the only primal reported lower. Federally inspected hog slaughter for Monday was estimated at 493,000 head. That was 11,000 head above last week and 8,310 head above the same Monday last year.

Oct 26 Hogs  closed at $78.150, up $0.050,

Dec 26 Hogs  closed at $69.800, up $1.250

Feb 27 Hogs  closed at $71.350, up $1.200,
