Hogs Falling Back on Thursday

Lean hog futures are posting Thursday losses of 22 cents to $1.65 at midday. USDA’s national base hog price was reported at $97.28 on Thursday morning, up $1.43 from the day prior. The CME Lean Hog Index was down a nickel on August 11 at $95.89.

Weekly Export Sales data showed 36,335 MT of pork sold for 2026 in the week ending on August 6, a 6-week high. Shipments were pegged at 30,632 MT, also a 3-week low.

USDA’s pork carcass cutout value was back up 43 in the Thursday AM report, at $100.58. The loin, butt, and belly primals were reported higher. USDA estimated federally inspected hog slaughter for Wednesday at 484,000 head, with the weekly total at 1.422 million head. That is 42,000 head above the previous week but down 19,192 head from the same week last year.

Aug 26 Hogs  are at $95.450, down $0.225,

Oct 26 Hogs  are at $81.975, down $1.575

Dec 26 Hogs are at $73.050, down $1.650,
