Hogs Continue Weakness, as Pork Grind Continues

Lean hog futures posted losses of 5 cents to $1.10 at the Thursday close.  USDA’s national base hog price was at $72.51 in the Thursday PM report, back up 7 cents from the day prior. The CME Lean Hog Index was down another 31 cents on October 6 at $78.91. 

Export Sales data showed 26,872 MT of pork sales in the week of October 1 for 2026 shipment. Actual exports were tallied at 32,803 MT in that week, down 5.7% from the week prior.

USDA’s pork carcass cutout value was down $2.07 in the Thursday afternoon report, at $79.64. The picnic was the only primal reported higher. Federally inspected hog slaughter for Thursday was estimated at 493,000 head, with the week to date total at 1.975 million head. That was 42,000 head above last week and 28,537 head larger than the same week last year.

Oct 26 Hogs  closed at $75.825, down $1.100,

Dec 26 Hogs  closed at $68.600, down $0.500

Feb 27 Hogs  closed at $69.875, down $0.050,
