German Stocks Mostly Subdued In Lackluster Trade

(RTTNews) - German stocks struggled for support on Monday with investors largely staying cautious, looking for directional clues. The technology sector showed weakness ahead of Nvidia's earnings update.

Investors also awaited details of new US sanctions on Iran following the Trump administration's recent announcement that it will increase economic pressure on Iran and its trading partners.

Investors also looked ahead to U.S. inflation data and the Jackson Hole Symposium later this week for clues about likely interest rate moves from central banks.

The benchmark DAX was up 8.59 points or 0.03% at 26,137.14 nearly half an hour before noon.

Daimler Truck Holding gained 1.5%, Hochtief climbed 1.2% and MTU Aero Engines advanced by a little over 1%.

Brenntag, Heidelberg Materials, BASF, Deutsche Telekom, Continental, Zalando, Adidas, GEA Group, Beiersdorf and Deutsche Boerse posted moderate gains.

Volkswagen drifted lower by 2%. Scout24, BMW, SAP and Infineon Technologies dropped 1%-1.3%, while Bayer, Vonovia, Mercedes-Benz, Fresenius and Rheinmetall lost 0.6%-0.8%.
