Clinical Catalysts Drive Biotech Movers: Opus Genetics, Quantum & More

(RTTNews) - Biotech and medical device stocks saw notable moves Wednesday, led by Opus Genetics, which surged more than 27% following positive clinical data. Quantum BioPharma gained after receiving FDA clearance for a Phase 2 MS trial, while Pulse Biosciences rallied more than 14%. Decoy Therapeutics and ONWARD Medical also traded higher.

Opus Genetics, Inc. (IRD) announced positive 3- and 6-month data from Cohort 1 of its Phase 1/2 BIRD-1 trial evaluating OPGx-BEST1 in patients with BEST1-related retinal diseases, including BVMD and ARB. All five participants showed clinically meaningful visual-function improvements, while four demonstrated structural improvements. No serious adverse events or dose-limiting toxicities were reported. The company is advancing a higher-dose Cohort 2 and plans for a potential Phase 3 trial in 2027.

Currently, IRD is trading at $5.49, up 27.07%.

Decoy Therapeutics, Inc. (DCOY) announced that Chief Executive Officer Rick Pierce will present at the Moody Capital Solutions 2026 Disruptive Growth & Life Sciences Conference on September 10 in New York City. Pierce will provide a corporate overview and participate in one-on-one meetings with investors. Decoy is developing Designable Multi-Antivirals (D-MAVs), a class of peptide antivirals designed to work across multiple viruses. Its IMP3ACT platform combines AI-enabled design with rapid synthesis and testing, while its lead programs target multiple respiratory viruses.

Currently, DCOY is trading at $2.77, up 5.39%.

Quantum BioPharma Ltd. (QNTM) announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared it to begin a Phase 2 clinical trial evaluating Lucid-MS, its investigational treatment for multiple sclerosis. Lucid-MS is designed to target myelin degradation rather than primarily suppressing the immune system, with preclinical studies showing potential to prevent and reverse myelin damage.

Currently, QNTM is trading at $3.63, up 10.33%.

ONWARD Medical N.V. (ONWD.BR) reported first-half 2026 revenue and other income of EUR 4.2 million, up from EUR 1.2 million a year earlier, driven by a 240% increase in ARC-EX System sales to EUR 3.4 million. The company supplied 159 ARC-EX Systems through paid evaluations and continued advancing its investigational ARC-IM and ARC-BCI platforms. ONWARD ended the period with EUR 81.5 million in cash.

Pulse Biosciences, Inc. (PLSE) is surging more than 14% Wednesday, although the company has not announced any specific news to explain the move. Pulse reported second-quarter 2026 revenue of $0.4 million and a non-GAAP net loss of $19.4 million, compared with $13.7 million a year earlier. Meanwhile, the NANOPULSE-AF pivotal study has surpassed 82 evaluable patients, with enrollment expected to complete in early Q4 2026, while CE Mark submissions for both nPulse Cardiac Systems are targeted for the second half of 2026.

Currently, PLSE is trading at $56.08, up 14.99%.
