Clearmind Reports Positive Permeation Data For Intranasal MEAI Formulation

(RTTNews) - Clearmind Medicine Inc. (CMND), a clinical-stage biotechnology company, on Tuesday reported positive permeation results from its ongoing intranasal MEAI development program, with 97.35% cumulative permeation at 180 minutes, compared with 98.34% for a conventional MEAI formulation.

The study evaluated whether the company's proprietary mucoadhesive intranasal formulation affects the release and membrane transport of MEAI (5-Methoxy-2-aminoindane) compared with a conventional MEAI solution.

Using Franz diffusion cells, a cellulose dialysis membrane and simulated nasal electrolyte solution, the study compared equivalent doses of the two formulations. Both showed rapid and extensive permeation, although intranasal MEAI had a slightly more gradual early-phase release profile.

Clearmind said the results indicate that the mucoadhesive formulation does not materially impair MEAI permeation, despite extending the drug's residence time in the nasal cavity.

The findings build on previously reported ex vivo mucoadhesion results, which showed that intranasal MEAI remained associated with nasal tissue substantially longer than a conventional MEAI solution.

The company said the intranasal program has demonstrated three key formulation characteristics: stable and fully soluble incorporation of MEAI, enhanced mucoadhesion and prolonged nasal residence, and preserved permeation kinetics.

Clearmind is developing MEAI for potential treatment of alcohol use disorder (AUD), weight management, obesity and metabolic conditions.

CMND has traded between $1.43 and $524.0 over the past 52-week.

The stock is trading up 1.87% at $1.63.
