CervoMed Presents Initial Phase 2a Results Of Neflamapimod In NfvPPA; Data Accepted For ISFTD 2026

(RTTNews) - CervoMed Inc. (CRVO) announced that initial biomarker results from its ongoing Phase 2a clinical trial of Neflamapimod in patients with nonfluent variant primary progressive aphasia (nfvPPA) have been accepted for a late-breaking oral presentation at the International Society of Frontotemporal Dementias (ISFTD) 2026 meeting.

The presentation is scheduled for October 11, 2026, during the Plenary 6 "Hot Topics" session.

Neflamapimod is an oral, small molecule designed to inhibit p38 MAP kinase, a key driver of neuroinflammation and synaptic dysfunction. In this open-label, multicenter study, 25 participants are being treated across leading academic centers in the U.S. and U.K. The trial is evaluating safety, pharmacokinetics, and clinical effects, with biomarker analysis focused on neurofilament light chain (NfL) and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP).

Early 12-week data from the first eight participants showed measurable changes in plasma NfL and GFAP, markers associated with neurodegeneration and astrocytic activation. Results from at least 22 participants will be presented at ISFTD, providing broader insight into the drug's potential impact.

NfvPPA is a subtype of frontotemporal dementias most often linked to tau pathology. Patients typically struggle with speech production, mispronunciation, and comprehension difficulties, with advanced stages and impaired motor function. There are currently no approved treatments for this condition in the U.S. or EU, underscoring the unmet medical need.

Neflamapimod has also been studied in dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), recovery after ischemic stroke, and nonfluent variant primary progressive aphasia. The FDA granted the drug Orphan Drug Designation in 2024 for frontotemporal dementia, offering regulatory incentives such as tax credits and market exclusivity.

CRVO has traded between $2.13 and $10.0 over the past year. The stock is currently trading at $2.50, down 0.40%.
