BASFY's Durasorb Technology Gains Traction in Cheniere LNG Operations

BASF SE’s BASFY Durasorb LNG MAX technology is announced to be commissioned by Cheniere Energy, Inc. at its Corpus Christi LNG (CCL) facility in Texas. The deployment marks a significant deployment of Durasorb across all CCL Facility liquefaction trains by the end of 2027. The installation began in 2025, and the technology is already in place on multiple mid-scale and large-scale liquefaction trains.

BASF is providing technology licensing, specialty adsorbent materials and technical support throughout the implementation and startup process. The technology offers a single-unit absorption solution designed to remove trace heavy hydrocarbons, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene and water to cryogenic specifications. By preventing the freeze-out of these components, Durasorb LNG MAX can help reduce associated downtime while improving operational reliability and flexibility.

The technology can be used for both retrofitting existing dehydration units and greenfield projects. BASFY also supports customers with proprietary modeling tools and ongoing technical assistance. Durasorb has enhanced its strategic debottlenecking program and is helping advance organic growth at its existing liquefaction platform. The rollout of this transformative technology and collaboration with Cheniere further creates value for LNG operators.

BASFY shares have gained 16.6% in the past year against the industry’s 3.6% decline in the same period.
