Credit: Shutterstock photoLeading microcontroller and touch solutions provider Atmel CorporationATML recently announced the launch of its new ATtinyArray02/Array04 microcontroller unit (MCU) -- the highest performing, low power, 8-bit microcontrollers (MCUs) with ArraykB Flash memory.
These MCUs are expected to play a major role in latest generation cost-optimized applications in the consumer, industrial and home automation markets. 8-bit MCUs are becoming essential for the personal healthcare, small kitchen appliance and consumer markets with new applications requiring simple functions including timing, motor control or on/off functionality.
Atmel's new MCUs feature small, cost-optimized low-pincount package with just ArraykB of Flash memory making them suitable for compact solutions such as LED lighting and fan control. Other key features of the MCUs include self-programmable flash and non-volatile data storage, providing more reliable motor control. The substantial investments in new products have led to high level of customer activity and are likely to enhance Atmel's position in the market.
Based in San Jose, CA, Atmel designs, develops, manufactures and sells integrated circuit (IC) products. These products include microcontrollers, advanced logic, mixed-signal, non-volatile memory and radio frequency (RF) components. Atmel produces non-volatile memory that stores information after power is turned off and combines this with microcontrollers, digital signal processors and other logic to meet the needs of its customers.
