Arkema Expands Portfolio with New Additive for Polyurethane Foam

Arkema S.A. ARKAY is strengthening its portfolio of high-performance polyurethane foam systems with the launch of Foranext Continuum, a new low-viscosity additive designed for rigid polyurethane foam formulations using Forane Foam Blowing Agent (FBA) 1233zd.

Foranext Continuum is designed to improve B-side shelf stability and help maintain formulation performance over time, supporting manufacturers as they transition to hydrofluoroolefin (HFO)-based technologies. The additive is suitable for insulation, roofing, appliance and other rigid foam applications, helping optimize formulation consistency.

The launch comes as demand rises for energy-efficient building, appliance and thermal management solutions, increasing the need for high-performance polyurethane foam systems. By combining Foranext Continuum with Forane FBA 1233zd, Arkema aims to provide manufacturers with complementary technologies that address both sustainability goals using low-global-warming solutions and operational efficiency.

The new product also builds on Arkema's ongoing investments in HFO technology and supply reliability. The company recently started up a new 15-kiloton Forane 1233zd production unit in Calvert City, KY, to support growing customer demand. Available globally through Arkema's fluorochemicals business, Foranext Continuum further broadens the company's portfolio.

ARKAY’s shares have gained 3.2% in the past year compared with the industry’s 1.8% rise in the same period.
