Align Technology Wins China Patent Case Against Angelalign
(RTTNews) - Align Technology, Inc. (ALGN), said the Jinan Intermediate People's Court in China ruled in its favor in a patent infringement case against Angelalign Technology's Chinese operating subsidiaries.
The court found that Angelalign's use of its MasterForce biomechanical simulation system and ATreat digital orthodontic treatment design system to generate A7 and A7 Speed premolar extraction treatment solutions infringed Align's patent rights.
The related aligner products manufactured and sold using the technology were also found to infringe the patent.
The court ordered Angelalign to stop using the patented technology and cease manufacturing and selling the infringing products in China.
The company was awarded RMB 10 million, or $1.4 million, in damages.
Angelalign can appeal the first-instance ruling to China's Supreme People's Court.
The ruling follows other patent-enforcement actions by the company against Angelalign, including a preliminary injunction issued by the Unified Patent Court in February 2026 over its ClinCheck Live Update technology.
In July, the U.S. International Trade Commission held an evidentiary hearing involving five patents asserted by the company against Angelalign, with an initial determination expected in November 2026.
On Tuesday, Align Technology closed trading 1.75% lesser at $172.96 on the Nasdaq. In the after-hours, the stock further traded 0.30% lesser at $172.44.
