AIM ImmunoTech Advances Ampligen In Phase 2 Pancreatic Cancer Study

(RTTNews) - AIM ImmunoTech Inc. (AIM) highlighted the scientific rationale, supportive data and continued clinical development of Ampligen (rintatolimod) in pancreatic cancer in a new installment of its CEO Corner video series.

AIM's CEO Thomas K. Equels discussed the challenges of treating pancreatic cancer, including its highly immunosuppressive or "cold" tumor microenvironment, which can limit immune responses and reduce the effectiveness of immunotherapy approaches.

Ampligen is an investigational Toll-like receptor 3 (TLR3) agonist designed to activate innate immunity and potentially reshape the tumor microenvironment, with the goal of making tumors more responsive to checkpoint inhibitors.

The company believes Ampligen may have synergistic potential with both PD-1 checkpoint inhibitors, including pembrolizumab, and PD-L1 checkpoint inhibitors, including durvalumab.

AIM is evaluating this approach in the ongoing Phase 2 DURIPANC study, which is assessing Ampligen in combination with AstraZeneca's durvalumab as maintenance therapy following standard-of-care treatment in patients with pancreatic cancer.

The DURIPANC study is intended to generate insights into patient selection, biomarker identification and the characteristics of patients who may derive the greatest clinical benefit from the combination.

AIM said findings from the study could help inform the design of a potential future pivotal development program for Ampligen in pancreatic cancer.

Beyond DURIPANC, the company is continuing to build scientific and clinical evidence supporting Ampligen through collaborations with research institutions, biomarker research, expansion of its intellectual property portfolio and regulatory engagement.

Looking ahead, AIM expects primary endpoint analyses, continued biomarker evaluations and overall survival follow-up from the DURIPANC study.

The company also plans additional regulatory interactions to further evaluate Ampligen's potential and refine its long-term pancreatic cancer development strategy.

Ampligen is AIM's lead investigational product and is a double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) and highly selective TLR3 agonist immunomodulator being developed for late-stage pancreatic cancer.

AIM ImmunoTech is focused on developing Ampligen for pancreatic cancer and other diseases with significant unmet medical needs.

Currently, AIM is trading at $0.23, up 1.94%.
