4basebio & Genezen Expand Collaboration For Viral Vector Manufacturing; Stock Up

(RTTNews) - 4basebio PLC (4BB.L), a biotech company and Genezen, a CDMO, on Wednesday entered into an expanded, non-exclusive commercial collaboration to support cell and gene therapy programs from early development through clinical and commercial manufacturing.

Under the collaboration, Genezen will provide drug developers access to 4basebio's research use only, high-quality and GMP-grade hairpin DNA (hpDNA) for viral vector applications. 4basebio's enzymatic, cell-free DNA process is designed to eliminate bacterial backbone sequences and antibiotic resistance genes from a given DNA starting material.

In AAV production, the hpDNA template has demonstrated comparable titers to plasmid DNA while requiring approximately 30% less DNA mass and transfection reagent. The company also said its cell-free manufacturing approach was capable of shortening DNA production timelines when compared with traditional plasmid manufacturing.

4basebio has traded between GBp 420 and GBp 920 over the last year.

The shares are trading up 4.26% at 490 pounds.
