Roland Chai

EVP and Head of Digital Liquidity Networks

Roland Chai is Executive Vice President and Head of Digital Liquidity Networks (DLN). In his role, he leads Nasdaq's efforts across digital assets, tokenized instruments, liquidity solutions, execution services, and emerging market infrastructure models designed to support a more interconnected, accessible, and continuous global financial system.

Prior to assuming this role, Roland served as President of Nasdaq's European Market Services business, overseeing trading, listings, clearing, and market infrastructure operations across the Nordic and Baltic markets, including exchanges in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. He also spearheaded Nasdaq's digital assets strategy, helping develop the frameworks, partnerships, and capabilities that support the company's vision for modernized capital market infrastructure.

Previously, Roland led Nasdaq's Marketplace Technology business, providing mission-critical technology solutions to marketplace infrastructure operators around the world. He also served as Nasdaq's first Global Chief Risk Officer, responsible for the company's global risk program and oversight of the risk functions supporting Nasdaq Clearing and Nasdaq Fixed Income.

Before joining Nasdaq, Roland served as Head of Post-Trade at Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX), overseeing clearing, risk management, and market surveillance functions across equities, fixed income, currencies, and commodities markets. He previously served as Group Risk Officer at HKEX, where he helped strengthen enterprise risk frameworks across the organization. During his tenure, he also served on the Board of LME Clear. Earlier in his career, Roland was Head of Equities at LCH. Clearnet Ltd and Product Development Manager at the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX).
