Westlake Chemical Earns Membership In 95-Plus Composite Rating Club

Westlake Chemical ( WLK ) saw its IBD SmartSelect Composite Rating jump to 96 Tuesday, up from 94 the day before.

Westlake Chemical is now out of buy range after clearing the 68.18 buy point in a flat base.

One weak spot is the company's 79 EPS Rating, which tracks quarterly and annual earnings-per-share growth. Look for that to improve to 80 or better to show it's in the top 20% of all stocks.

Its Accumulation/Distribution Rating of B shows moderate buying by institutional investors over the last 13 weeks.

The company reported a 78% earnings gain for Q3. Sales growth came in at 65%, down from 82% in the prior quarter.

Westlake Chemical earns the No. 1 rank among its peers in the Chemicals-Basic industry group. Huntsman ( HUN ) and Celanese ( CE ) are also among the group's highest-rated stocks.
