The SPDR Portfolio Small Cap ETF ( SPSM ) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Wednesday, with over 4.7 million shares traded versus three month average volume of about 327,000. Shares of SPSM were down about 1.1% on the day.
Components of that ETF with the highest volume on Wednesday were Chesapeake Energy ( CHK ), trading off about 4.1% with over 28.5 million shares changing hands so far this session, and Southwestern Energy ( SWN ), off about 5.6% on volume of over 16.3 million shares. KMG Chemicals ( KMG ) is the component faring the best Wednesday, up by about 16.1% on the day, while Sigma Designs ( SIGM ) is lagging other components of the SPDR Portfolio Small Cap ETF, trading lower by about 96.5%.
